Summary of Benefits Available to Staff of Girl Scouts, Patriots' Trail Council, Inc.
Medical Insurance
Full-time employees of Girl Scouts, Patriots' Trail Council, are eligible for medical coverage through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Harvard Pilgrim offers 3 levels of coverage: Individual, Dual, and Family plans. The Council will pay a percentage of the monthly premiums for each employee's coverage based on the level of coverage elected. Coverage becomes effective on the employee's first day of work.
Dental Insurance
Voluntary dental coverage is available through Delta Dental. Delta Dental offers individual and family plans. The Council will pay a percentage of the monthly premiums for each employee's coverage based on the level of coverage elected. Coverage becomes effective on the employee's first day of work.
Domestic Partner Coverage
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Delta Dental allow Patriots' Trail staff to enroll same sex or opposite sex domestic partners under their health plan.
Flexible Spending Account
The Council has adopted a federal government IRS Section 125 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) which provides tax savings on money employees may spend on certain types of health and dependent care expenses. Staff may elect to have medical and dental premiums deducted from their paycheck on a pre-tax basis. They may also elect pre-tax payroll deduction for dependent care assistance including elder care and day care. Employees may also participate in the Medical Reimbursement Account (MRA) to set-aside pre-tax dollars from their paychecks for the purpose of paying for incurred medical, dental and health related expenses.
The Council also offers a pre-tax savings program under IRS Section 132 for employees to save money on their mass transit and parking expenses.
Life Insurance and Long Term Disability
Group Term Life Insurance is paid for by the Council and coverage is equal to one times the employee’s annual salary, to a maximum of $100,000. Enrollment is effective on the first of the month following date of hire.
Long Term Disability coverage is paid for by the Council and becomes effective the first of the month following date of hire.
Paid Leave and Holidays
We have an extensive paid time off plan for our staff. New full-time non-exempt hourly employees earn 10 days of vacation leave per year. New full-time exempt employees earn 20 days of vacation leave per year. All full-time employees accumulate one sick day per month and are granted 3 personal days each year. 13 holidays are celebrated as paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
Retirement Plans
After one year of service with Girl Scouting employees become eligible for the National Girl Scout Council Retirement Plan which is administered by Mutual of America. The Council begins contributions on behalf of employees on year of service. Employees become vested in the plan after five years of service in Girl Scouting.
403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity. Two options are available for staff to enroll in a 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity investment. Plans are available with MetLife Investors and Mutual of America. Dollars can be deducted from your paycheck pre-tax and invested in mutual funds as a way to prepare for retirement.
Credit Union
GSPTC is affiliated with the Tremont Credit Union. An employee may set up an account with the Tremont Credit Union and elect to have their paycheck or a portion of their paycheck directly deposited into their chosen credit union account.
Payroll
Our payroll cycle is bi-weekly, or 26 pay periods per year.
Discounts
Discounts are available for staff to send their children to one of the Council's summer camps. Staff may attend our annual fund-raising dinner and annual meeting at no cost.
