The Girl 2 Girl Conference is Girl Scouts, Patriots' Trail Council's annual day-long event for teen Girl Scouts in grades 7-12. The conference is organized by grade tracks: 7th & 8th grades and 9th-12th grades. Select from the workshops below and from the grade track that corresponds with your current grade in school, and mark your choices on the Registration Form. Girls will attend 4 workshops during the day.

All Grades
A+ Presentations
Does the thought of public speaking make your mouth dry, your knees knock, and your hands shake? Do you have an upcoming class presentation or community event where YOU will be in the spotlight? Do you dream of running for office in your school's student environment but are too nervous to speak before your peers? Then you are invited to join this crash course in effective public speaking. Practice public speaking in a non-threatening environment, ask questions and voice your fears!
CSI
Join the Forensic Science Investigative Team and learn how real CSI’s investigate crimes. Put on your investigative hats and document a crime scene, collect, preserve and analyze evidence. Find out how forensic scientists use fingerprints, fibers, biology and chemistry to investigate crimes.
Destinations
Destinations is your chance to go somewhere new, see something interesting and meet people from around the world! Whether you want to travel around the corner or across the ocean, don’t miss this opportunity to realize your dreams!
Designing Solutions
Are you a person who likes to solve problems? Do you want to make a real difference in the world? Join us to learn how you can help build a better future for our world as an engineer! We will debunk some myths you may have heard about engineering and introduce you to some ways to get involved now.
Fashion: Behind the Scenes of a Photo Shoot
Come and explore the nice and not so nice sides of the fashion business and what it takes to produce a professional fashion photo shoot. Brooke Kanal discusses body image and healthy expectations for women. There will be lots of laughs in this workshop and a promise next time your fashion magazine arrives in your mailbox, you will look at fashion photos through a new set of eyes.
Fun Fitness
Come and learn how your muscles work while stretching and flexing. Get active while participating in aerobic exercises. Wear loose fitting comfortable clothes.
International Trip Planning
Traveling is fun, exciting and educational. 2007 is the 50th birthday of Our Cabaña, one of the four WAGGGS World Centers. We will discuss the process of planning an international trip and practice planning a trip to Our Cabaña.
Science Wonders
Science is fun. Science is surprising. We will look at our universe as astronauts and explorers and visit planets and comets and maybe even our sun. Come prepared to have fun on your solar system expedition and discover some new mysteries along the way.
Scrapbooking
Try new techniques and fun ways to display your favorite memories! Girls should bring at least 4 photographs to create their own page.
Self-Defense
During the workshop, you will use a variety of methods to increase your ability to defend yourself: role playing, discussion, kneeing, elbowing and striking pads. You will work with partners to learn releases and joint locks. In small groups, you will practice methods of defusing situations. As a large group, you will learn to say "NO" effectively and to back it up with action. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes or sneakers without heels.
Snack Attack
Are you tired of the same old snacks? In this course you’ll learn how to make a variety of healthy appetizers. We'll prepare Asian Spring Rolls, Mediterranean Hummus, Bruschetta and special sweet to finish off the hour. We'll also have the opportunity to sample a few pre-made unique foods. Come prepared to cut, chop, chat and eat.
Yoga
Yoga means union, the joining of the physical, mental and spiritual elements of life. Use your body and your mind to focus as well as de-stress. Come enjoy breathing, moving and relaxing in this fun activity. Bring your own mat, if you have one.
7th-8th Grade
Aromatherapy
Would you like to make your own scented bath salts? How about a massage oil? Have you ever wondered how women from the past kept their skin clean and youthful? Well join Chris as she instructs you how to take scents and household products to produce some of this wonderful things. Please not if you are scent sensitive this may not be the place for you.
Go For it! Silver Award
The Girl Scout Silver award is the highest award a girl 11-14 (or in grades 7-9) can earn. To earn this award, a girl completes recognitions that help her explore careers, develop leadership potential and learn new skills, while challenging her to give service to her community. Come to this workshop to learn everything you need to know about earning your Silver Award.
Leadership
Leadership comes from our ability to understand what’s in our head and our heart—during this workshop, you will have the opportunity to begin to discover your own gifts and talents that enable you to be a leader. We will discuss the resources available so that each girl can apply their leadership through community service. This workshop will help you start thinking about how you can tap into your own strengths to give back to your community. Recommended for girls thinking about earning the Silver Award.
Program Aide (Note: This training takes 3 sessions.)
This training provides girls with a basic understanding of Girl Scouting, developmental characteristics of younger girls, and the roles and responsibilities of the Program Aide. Additionally, participants will learn how to select, plan, and present age-appropriate activities and use various problem-solving strategies.
Theatre 101
Step into the spotlight! Let your star shine while learning acting and improvisation games that entertain and inspire!
9th – 12th Grade
Choosing a College/Admissions Process
With the help of an Admissions Counselor from Simmons College review the steps you can take and the terms you should get to know when it comes to the college search process. You will receive publications and handouts to guide you in your search, and you’ll even have a chance to ask questions. This seminar will provide you with helpful information that will start you on your path to college.
Getting What You Want From Relationships
This workshop is designed to work with teen girls on the development of their ideal dating partner. We will talk about common misconceptions about dating, equality within relationships and skills for more effective communication. Participants will walk away with an active knowledge about healthy and unhealthy characteristics of a dating relationship and tools to use to talk to friends in abusive relationships.
Go For it! Gold Award
For girls 14-18 (or in grades 9-12) who are interested in pursuing Girl Scouting’s highest girl recognition, and for adults who may be helping girls achieve the Gold Award. Learn how to apply for the award, plan an appropriate Gold Award project, and discover some tips on how to achieve this award.
Money Smarts
This is a crash course on writing checks, using a debit card, and online banking. Learn how to manage credit cards and about the importance of your credit score.
Reiki
Come and experience what a true Reiki session is like. Reiki is an alternative modality used today to help spiritual and body healing. Chris Sheils will explain how this method was developed and how it is used today. This session will include what charka's are and how these energy centers affect you body. Use of crystals will be examined along with a simple Reiki session.

Express yourself! Share your story and strut your stuff as you act, improvise, and create a “mini-play” all about you!
ADULTS
Teen Dating Violence: A Discussion for Leaders
According to the Massachusetts Youth Risk Behavior Survey, approximately 20% of high school females and 7% of high school males reported being hurt physically or sexually by a date. This workshop will increase your knowledge of the dynamics specific to teen dating violence and will give you skills and resources to begin the discussion about within your own troops. Discussion will include elements of healthy and unhealthy dating, reasons teens stay in unhealthy relationships and exercises to do with troops to bring about awareness and understanding.
Advisor of Teen Girls
This is REQUIRED for all leaders of teen girls and strongly recommended for trainers who will train this course in the future.
