Studio 2B destinations: Travel opportunities for teens

Destinations, formerly called Wider Ops, are special events for girls ages 12-18 hosted by different Girl Scout Councils across the United  States. These events usually have a focus--outdoor, people, science--and the participants are selected from all over the USA. Destinations  will include both national and international events and are an excellent chance for young women to learn about travel and to experience  independence and responsibility. Most international events require a minimum age of 14 to attend. For a complete listing of events available  check out the Studio 2B website in the ESCAPE section. Booklets will no longer be mailed to girls or councils, but girls will receive a postcard with the new name and website to look up their choices online.  You can download the application form in PDF or MS Word.

One Warm Coat

One Warm Coat is pleased to have the Girl Scouts of Patriots' Trail Council helping us in the collection and distribution of coats to people in need. This is a project where you can help people in your own community on your schedule.

HOW TO START: The Guidebook, found on the web site (www.onewarmcoat.org), will answer many of your questions about how to create a One Warm Coat event. Also, there are suggestions for troop activities and links to Girl Scout programs. The web site also has information on how to create flyers and provides sample documents for your use in publicizing your troop's event.

Contact your council coordinator to register your coat drive and report back your results. Contact Joan Reilly, 781-893-6113 ext 232, jreilly@ptgirlscouts.org
