Adventure Course Training
Cedar Hill's Adventure course is a great resource for leaders who want to promote team buiding and leadership among the girls in their troop. This course will qualify you to use the adventure course with your troop. The ropes course is not recommended for use as an encampment activity. Please dress for the weather. Participants should meet at Great Hall at Camp Cedar Hill.

Canoe Leader Recertification
For adults who have been previously certified (3 years ago or more) by Patriots' Trail or other organization. Participants will practice and review strokes, maneuvers and teaching techniques for troop canoeing program on Council properties. Participants should dress for the weather. Bring bathing suit (yes, you will get wet!), towel, change of clothing, knee pads, sunscreen, hat and water bottle. FEE $15

Canoe Training for Leaders
If you've ever had trouble making a canoe go straight, you know that canoeing is not just second nature. With guidance, practice, and time, it can be elevated to an art. This course will cover basic techniques of paddling, precise maneuvering, and canoe design and materials. This course is designed for beginners in flat water canoeing and will allow you to utilize council property only. Fee: $30

Encampment Director
An Encampment is when all or most of the troops from a service unit camp together. Each encampment should be supervised by a trained Encampment Director. An Encampment Director should have participated in at least 2 previous encampments, must have completed Troop Camp Training Course or Equivalency and must attend an Encampment Director Workshop. The Directors must have completed a First Aid course, but may not have primary responsibility for a troop during the encampment. Fee: FREE

Evergreen Leader Orientation
After leaders attend an orientation session they, may reserve a time (i.e. as part of a camping weekend or afterschool) to bring their troop to the Nature Center.

Evergreen Nature Guide Training
Do you like sharing nature with children? Would you like to lead an occasional afternoon or evening hike through Cedar Hill? The Evergreen Nature Center is offering training for Nature Guides. Guides would help provide coverage of programs that fit their interest and skills.

Girl Scout Canoe Leader Certification - Safety and Paddling Clinic
Want to learn to paddle smarter? Interested in taking your troop on local quiet water? This course is designed to give you the skills to deal with various flat water boating situations. Focused on safety for canoe leaders and methods of teaching girls how to handle their boats successfully, we will practice a variety of rescue situations as well as demonstrate the equipment necessary to provide a positive experience for both leaders and girls. Pat Gardner and Paula Ruozzi, ACA Flatwater Certified Canoe Instructors and experienced Girl Scout trainers, bring you this 7-hour in depth clinic on water safety, trip planning, and paddling techniques. Pat and Paula will share encampment and troop program planning secrets and safety scenarios. This course is for adults with some or no canoe experience looking to explore the quiet waters of New England with their troop. Your confirmation packet will provide pre-course reading material and a supply list. Fee: $30.00
