Our 10,500 adult volunteers make Girl Scouting possible!
Girl Scouts needs volunteers to work with traditional troops, train volunteers, help with events, and create programs around their areas of interest. Please see below for our current short-term volunteer opportunities. Scouting for the Cure™ (May 10)
This event is being held for Girl Scouts and important women in their lives to learn about breast cancer prevention, awareness, and education. Volunteers are needed to help run activities on Saturday, May 10 from 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM in Marlborough. Event volunteers will help with set up/clean up and run activity stations that include crafts, a service project for breast cancer patients, and aerobic activities. Trashy Art Show (May 18)
Want to see funky art made out of trash? The Girl Scout Trashy Art Show at Cedar Hill in Waltham will showcase Play-doh sculptures, jewelry, and a fashion show. Volunteers are needed on May 18th from 1:15pm - 4:30pm to help with set up, parking lot monitoring, and directing people to the show. Over 300 people expected. 500 Club Ice Cream Social (May 21)
I scream, you scream, we all scream... for ice cream (and Girl Scout cookies)!!! This event is being held at Cedar Hill in Waltham for girls & their families who sold more than 500 boxes of cookies. Volunteers are needed May 21st 5:30pm-8pm to help with set-up, ice cream serving, and clean up. About 200 people are expected to attend. Friendliness & patience with young children is a must. Host Families Needed (Summer)
Enjoy a cultural exchange experience this summer! Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is currently searching for host families for our international summer camp staff. Host families receive either a stipend of $400 for the summer or two weeks of day camp/one week of overnight camp for a girl in their family. If you are interested in hosting an international camp counselor in your home this summer, please contact Mary Strom at mstrom@ptgirlscouts.org or 617-482-1078 ext.220.
Girl Scout Museum Docent (Flexible Schedule)
Interested in nearly 100 years of Girl Scout history, including uniforms, pins, and patches? The Girl Scout Museum at Cedar Hill in Waltham is looking for volunteer docents to provide historical programming for local Girl Scout troops. One hour tours are provided by appointment after school, on weekends, or holidays. This is a great opportunity for Girl Scout Alumnae. All are welcome and all training is provided. Golf Classic Steering Committee (Monthly)
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts will be holding the 4th Annual Girl Scout Golf Classic and we are looking for volunteers to serve on the steering committee! Responsibilities include identifying potential sponsorships and foursomes, soliciting silent auction & raffle items, and general event help. Meetings will be held monthly and can be done either in person or by phone. Whether you are new to golf or a seasoned professional, we welcome everyone to be a part of this fun committee! Leading Women Steering Committee (Monthly)
Fire up your fundraising and special events skills to honor Boston's leading women! Volunteers are needed for the steering committee to plan the Leading Women Awards Celebration this fall. For more information, contact Kate Sturgis at ksturgis@ptgirlscouts.org or (617) 482-1078 ext. 204.
